                  Memory of the Holocaust Victims Commemorated in Ekaterinburg Synagogue

                  A mourning ceremony dedicated to the victims of the Holocaust, took place today at the Synagogue Jewish Community Center in Ekaterinburg. Candles were lit in memory of the victims of terror.
                  Students of the Jewish comprehensive gymnasium "Or-Avner" did a performance with literary and musical composition, devoted to the memory of Holocaust victims.
                  The culmination of the event was the solemn lighting of candles in memory of the victims of the Holocaust. Six symbolic candles were lit by children: the first candle in memory of the destroyed areas; the second candle in memory of the Jewish ghetto prisoners who perished from hunger and disease, and shot by the Nazis; the third candle in memory of the millions of Jewish children killed by fascists; the fourth - in memory of courage of the Jews, who fought on the battlefield; the fifth candle in memory of the people who were rescuing Jews from death, sometimes at the cost of their lives; the sixth candle in memory of the millions of Jews killed in death camps.
                  The lightning of candles was completed with a memorial prayer, read by Chief Rabbi of Ekaterinburg and the Sverdlovsk region Zelig Ashkenazi. The ceremony was attended by prisoners of concentration camps and ghettos, veterans of the Great Patriotic War.
                  The U.S. Consul General in Ekaterinburg Timothy Sendaski, Consul General of the Czech Republic in Ekaterinburg Myroslav Ramesh, Consul General of France in Ekaterinburg Claude Croix, Consul General of the Republic of Hungary in Ekaterinburg Fabian Pal Ene, Attache for Culture, Media and Public Affairs of the Consulate of Germany in Ekaterinburg Steffen Laas, and head of the Jewish Agency in Russia Sergey Guslitzer addressed the participants with the words of sorrow.
                  After the solemn mourning ceremony, a memorial meal began in the banquet hall of the community center.
