EU: Iran ready to hold nuclear talks with major powers
29.10.2010 Iran is prepared to hold talks on its nuclear program with the six major powers at any time after November 10, the European Union's foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton said on Friday.
Ashton said she had received a letter from Iran's chief nuclear negotiator, Saed Jalili, in which he agreed to meet "in a place and on a date convenient to both sides" after November 10.
In an earlier letter to Jalili, Ashton had invited him to hold talks in Vienna from November 15-17.
"Dr Jalili ... is agreeable to begin discussions after Nov. 10 and wants to agree the time and place. I think this is a very significant move," Ashton told reporters during a summit of EU leaders in Brussels.
