Inability of the Palestinian authorities to cope with terror gives rise to the certain doubts referring readiness of Palestinian
06.12.2002 The last report of the USA state department, devoted to activity of PA administration and Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), for the first time highlighted the question of Palestinian authorities inability to cope with terror that gives rise to certain doubts as for readiness of Palestinian Arabs to recognize the Israel right of existence.
In the present report the officers of the state department have recognized that Palestinian authorities have made almost nothing to stop acts of terrorism against Israelis. Moreover, as it is marked in the report, the state department has proofs that among those who participated in these acts of terrorism (besides the officially recognized radical and terrorist groupings) the employees of autonomy security services and representatives of PA administration were repeatedly condemned of complicity in terrorism. Thus, the authors of the report emphasize "autonomy authorities, apparently, are half-conscious about the violence in the zone of the conflict with Israel causing damages, first of all, to the Palestinian Arabs..."
On the basis of this report, as the Washington and Israeli experts mark, the President George Bush has made last week the program-devastating statement that PA administration directed by Jasir Arafat could not fulfil the promises and requirements of the international community, and of the White house in particular, about terror termination. Though, Bush is meanwhile refraining from introduction of sanctions against PA following recommendations of the state department. However, according to the sources, "if the situation does not change in the nearest future, the Palestinian administration will face considerably more rigid approach of Washington".
