                  16.11.2016, Anti-Semitism

The Zionist Organization of America (ZOA) welcomed the appointment of Stephen Bannon as chief strategist by Presiden-elect Donald Trump and urged Anti-Defamation League (ADL) CEO Jonathan Greenblatt ‘’to apologize’’ for accusing the new appointee and Breibart Media to be anti-Semitic.

On Monday, Greenblatt issued a press release saying : "It is a sad day when a man who presided over the premier website of the 'alt-right' — a loose-knit group of white nationalists and unabashed anti-Semites and racists — is slated to be a senior staff member in the 'people's house" CEO Jonathan Greenblatt says of Trump's new senior counselor.

President-elect Donald Tump has announced Bannon’s appointment as senior Counselor and chief strategist. Bannon was executive chairman of Breitbart News before being named as Trump's campaign chair in August.

‘’It is painful to see Anti-Defamation League (ADL) president Jonathan Greenblatt engaging in character assassination against President-elect Trump’s appointee Stephen Bannon and Mr. Bannon’s company, Breitbart media,’’ said ZOA President Morton A.Klein in a statement.

Klein said that ZOA’s own experience and analysis of Breitbart articles ‘’confirms Bannon’s and Breitbart’s friendship and fair-mindedness towards Israel and the Jewish people.’’

‘’To accuse Mr. Bannon and Breitbart of anti-Semitism is Orwellian. In fact, Breitbart bravely fights against anti-Semitism,’’ Morton added, citing some examples like the fact that Bannon joined ZOA in fighting the anti-Semitic rallies at CUNY by requiring his Breitbart reporters to call CUNY officials and Governor Cuomo aides urging them to do something about it.

He also argued that Breitbart Media ''courageously publishes articles reporting that the Palestinian Authority defames Israel with blatant falsehoods'' and that it ''sympathetically reports on the scourge of anti-Semitic anti-Israel boycotts, divestment and sanctions (BDS).''
