rif, the umbrella representative group of French Jewish institutions, said it is in contact with police and Paris prosecutor to shed light on the death of a 66-year old French Jewish woman who was thrown off her Paris apartment balcony by an Arab neighbor.

The Jewish Community Security Service, a body that tracks anti-Semitic incidents in France, wrote in a Facebook post that the Paris police had arrested the culprit and that an investigation was being led to understand his motives.

“The CRIF and the FSJU (two of the most prominent French Jewish organizations) will do their best to shed light on this very sad event and to support the family. We will keep you informed,” reads the post.

Police in Paris are investigating a 27-year-old Arab man on suspicion that he murdered his neighbor Sarah Attal-Halimi, a 66-year-old Jewish Haredi woman, following a ‘’quarrel’’ in her apartment.

The man, who is already known to the police, pushed her to her death from her apartment which was located on the third floor of the building.

Police arrested the suspect who lives on the second floor after Halimi’s body was discovered overnight in the 11th district of Paris.

Neighbors have testified that they heard the suspect screaming that he wants to kill her just before the incident. Some reports said the Arab man threw the woman from her apartment window, screaming ‘'Allahu Akbar'’.”

The Paris prosecutor said nothing until now allows to confirm the anti-Semitic character of this murder. In a communique, Crif said: ''We wish to assure everyone that we will maintain the pressure on the public and political authorities at all levels so that the truth about this terrible affair and its exact circumstances will be revealed as soon as possible.''

Sarah Attal-Halimi was buried Thursday in Jerusalem where one of her children lives.
