“This visit will deepen our cooperation in a wide range of fields – security, agriculture, water, energy – essentially in all the areas that Israel is involved in,” said Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi who arrives Tuesday for the first visit by a sitting Indian Prime Minister.

The ‘’historic’’ marks 25 years of Indo-Israeli diplomatic relations.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the visit is “an expression of the relationship between us and India that has grown tighter over the last number of years”.

He will will personally greet Modi at the airport, along with the top tier of Israel's leadership, an honor afforded to only a few select leaders, such as US presidents and popes.

Modi said that the visit provides an “opportunity to engage with a cross-section of Israeli society. I am particularly looking forward to interacting with the large vibrant Indian diaspora in Israel that represents an enduring link between our two peoples”.

During his two day visit, Modi will meet with Netanyahu and President Reuven Rivlin, and with leading Indian and Israeli CEOs and start-ups, to discuss the “shared priority of expanding business and investment collaboration on the ground”.

Immediately after his arrival, the Indian leader will go to Moshav Mishmar Hashiva, near Beit Dagan, and visit the Danziger “Dan” flower farm, one of Israel’s leading floriculture companies, with approximately 80,000 square meters of state-of-the-art greenhouses specializing in reproduction of plants.

That this will be Modi's first stop on his visit highlights that one of Israel's key interests in closer cooperation with India is its expertise in agricultural technology.
