11.03.2003 The Jewish agency in Russia has started a new project, under its "Zeut Ehudit" ("Jewish self-consciousness") program. From now on, every fortnight, Jewish lectors from Moscow will be visiting twenty selected Russian cities and towns that can be reached by ground transport. An especially lucky town is Yaroslavl, for it will be visited by Arkadiy Rybakov, the Jewish historian from Moscow.
Arkadiy Rybakov is a professional lecturer in the field of Jewish history. He is a graduate of the Institute of Asian and African countries of the Moscow State University. He taught history for quite a long period of time. He also worked as a methodologist for the Association of Jewish Culture Ethnic Universities.
Unfortunately, there are no professional Jewish history lecturers in Yaroslavl. Thus, the lectures by the young and talented historian from Moscow are of great interest to those dwellers of Yaroslavl who are interested in Jewish history, culture and tradition. The first lecture was held in the building of the Jewish Cultural center; its topic and was the Arab-Israel problem.
