CIS's Jews celebrated Purim.
17.03.2003 Thousand of Jews living in the CIS participated in celebrating Purim. Festive events were held in all major communities from the Far East to the Baltic shore.
For instance, the "Purim-spiel" festival was held in Vitebsk, the birthplace of the prominent Jewish painter Mark Shagal. More than a thousand students participated in the festival. The Moscow celebration of Purim was held in the circus in Tsvetnoy blv. The celebration featured the performance by the famous Israeli street theatre directed by Jacky Bakhara, which was invited by the Jewish agency.
