On March 7, 2014, the Chairman of the Ukrainian Security Services Valentin Nalivaichenko initiated a meeting with the Chairman of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress General Council, Josef Zisels.

The meeting involved an exchange of opinion on the Ukrainian situation and the restoration of a special department on counteracting discrimination, xenophobia, and anti-Semitism in Ukraine within the Security Service. This department, which had been created in 2007 at the behest of President Victor Yuschenko, was abolished when Victor Yanukovich came to power.

Valentin Nalivaichenko assured Josef Zisels of that department being restored as soon as possible.
